Familia Mobile App

Platform: iOS, Android

Release: December 2024

My role is UX/UI designer.

  • Product research
  • Interface design
  • Visual design
  • Collaboration with marketing and development teams.

Project goal.

To develop a mobile app to enhance digital presence, increase customer loyalty, and provide a convenient online shopping format.

About the client

Familia is a leader in the Russian off-price retail market.

The brand has a well-promoted online store and sought to create a mobile app to expand its digital presence.

It was important for the client:

  1. To make shopping convenient and familiar for their regular customers;
  2. To maintain the visual identity and functionality of the web version of the online store;
  3. To make the app cross-platform.

My role

I was responsible for UX research, user scenario design, and visual implementation of interfaces.

Main tasks:

  • Analyzing the user journey in the web version;
  • Adapting for mobile devices iOS, Android;
  • Prototyping;
  • Updating the app's design system;
  • Communicating with Familia's marketing department to ensure brand consistency.

Process

Step 1

Analyzing user behavior scenarios and internal research from Familia to preserve the logic and placement of key elements.

Step 2

Designing the interface structure. Prototyping and testing hypotheses.

Step 3

UI design. Updating the design system. Building new visual elements.

Step 4

Testing interactive prototypes. Supporting development.

UI design

During the work on the app, we coordinated many aspects with Familia's marketing department and relied on their team's research. It was particularly important for the client to maintain a well-thought-out strategy: section names, placement of key actions, as well as the brand's visual identity: corporate colors, fonts, graphic elements.

Before

After

Main changes:

  • Changed the layout of categories from "tiles" to tags with horizontal scrolling. This way, users pay attention to the banner with promotions and seasonal offers.
  • Optimized the proportions of images and texts;
  • Improved the catalog section and the filtering and sorting system;
  • Removed visual noise from various sections;
  • Thought through the placement of interactive elements and buttons;
  • Brought important information for customers to the main screen: loyalty card, bonuses;
  • Made information in the personal account more accessible and convenient;
  • Reduced the number of steps for placing an order;
  • Updated the cart design.
